Learn more about your favourite cannabis flower or try something new as we explore the history, growing methods and unique properties of our most popular strains. In this feature, we’ll spotlight Blue Dream: a tall plant with buds that give off an exceptional aroma.
Aroma and Taste: Blueberry, Fresh, Peppery
Common Dominant Terpenes: Myrcene, Caryophyllene
Average THC: High Average CBD: Low
To answer this question and more, we turned to a few experts: Aurora, Simply Bare and Tantalus Labs.
This West Coast staple is a high-THC hybrid, known for its strong aroma and high terpene content. In the grow room or the greenhouse, it’s a low-maintenance plant that grows tall with heavy buds.
Dreamed up in Santa Cruz, Calif., this strain is a cross between indica-dominant Blueberry and sativa-dominant Haze.
Its popularity out west made Blue Dream an easy choice for growers, but that’s not the only place it’s gained recognition, according to Tantalus Labs. “When we were selecting our first set of launch strains, Blue Dream stood out as a crowd favourite within our team. We were just as excited to grow it as we were to share it with customers.”
This strain is best known for its remarkable aroma, but what exactly that aroma is depends on who grew it.
Simply Bare’s Blue Dream stays the closest to the original strain; it’s high in myrcene with a strong blueberry scent. Their strain tests at over 3% total terpenes, with typical myrcene and caryophyllene at the forefront, followed closely by less common ocimene and humulene.
Both Aurora and Tantalus Labs produce a unique take on this tried-and-true strain. The team at Aurora elaborates further. “Our version of this strain has a differentiated terpene profile from the ‘standard’ Blue Dream on the market, in that it is pinene dominant instead of myrcene dominant. The aroma profile includes pine, pepper and lemon. The top five terpenes are alpha-pinene, beta-myrcene, beta-pinene, trans-caryophyllene and limonene.”
Overall, Blue Dream is an easy-to-grow low-maintenance strain. It can be grown both indoors and in a hybrid greenhouse, enjoying sunlight and supplemental light. Its only flaw? Needing a little extra support. This hybrid grows tall like a sativa but has large buds like an indica, so growers sometimes have to add a trellis to prevent the plant from toppling over under its own weight.
Simply Bare (grown by Rubicon Organics) shares their unique process for growing Blue Dream. “We are one of the few producers to grow in soil, and we do so to mimic nature as much as possible. There are living organisms in the soil that help break down the nutrients we mix into our secret recipe, such as Douglas fir bark, kelp and bone meal, and make them ‘bioavailable’ to the plant. Rather than forcing certain nutrients onto the plant, our strain of Blue Dream chooses what combination of nutritional inputs it needs to grow best. The result is big, full buds littered with orange pistils and, most importantly, exceptionally high terpene levels.”
Tantalus Labs also has a unique approach to quenching this strain’s thirst. “Blue Dream produced at Tantalus Labs’ facility is watered only with pure rainwater. Rain is captured, triple-filtered and dripline-fed to each plant, meaning it’s never been touched by chlorine or fluoride like many municipal water sources.”
For Tantalus Labs, the process of creating Blue Dream led to an interesting discovery. “During the phenotyping run for our Blue Dream, we found a second remarkable phenotype that leaned toward the Blueberry indica side. It was notable enough that we cycled it into our cultivation schedule and launched it as our popular Sky Pilot strain. It’s similar to Blue Dream but with an indica-dominant expression and higher THC.”
To help you understand what a cannabis strain is, you can think of it like a breed of dog. While all dogs share similar traits, there are definitely differences among breeds (you wouldn’t confuse a Great Dane with a dachshund, for example). When it comes to different cannabis strains, this means one may have a sweet, lemony aroma, while another may boast a pungent, sour diesel-like scent. These differences have been fine-tuned by cannabis growers over many generations. Growers will choose two plants with desirable traits (for example, a strong diesel scent) and cross (or breed) those plants together, creating an offspring with a stronger expression of those desirable traits. When breeding cannabis plants, growers are often focused on the unique aroma, and taste, and potential THC and CBD content of a strain. And just like no two Great Danes are the same, strains can vary from lot to lot and grower to grower.
There’s nothing like grinding up your herb and rolling up a joint after a long and hard day at work, but what if you added an extra dose of potency to get you lit? That’s what infused pre-rolls are all about.
You’ve probably smoked a joint or heard of them. Cannabis joints are convenient and portable cigarettes with milled herbs inside and rolled up with rolling paper (hemp, rice, wood pulp, flax, etc.). It’s a cylinder of pure cannabis pleasure. No wonder pre-roll sales are rising.
Infused joints take this concept to the extreme, adding high-potency concentrates to the mix. Infused pre-rolls are a one-way ticket to paradise.
Cannabis concentrates offer users a concentrated potency, flavour, and aroma in a tiny little dab. Extracts come in many consistencies, including hard and brittle shatter, buttery budder, crumbly crumble, saucy live resin, and other forms of cannabis.
Infuse joints blend milled flower with concentrates to create an extract product that can be smoked alone or with your best buds. Take it on your next retreat and elevate your adventure to new heights.
Infused pre-rolls come in many shapes, sizes, and potencies. An endless combination of factors can make up an infused pre-roll, including the quality and strain of the flower and concentrate and how the pre-roll was processed and assembled.
If you’re ready to experience the sky-high potency of infused pre-rolls, it’s essential to understand the different types available. Here are just a few examples of pre-roll options:
Cannabis diamonds are the latest rage, and why shouldn’t they be? They have a mesmerizing crystalline appearance. That’s the THCA or CBD, depending on your preference. Cannabis diamonds contain 99% THC or CBD, the highest potency available.
If you want to reach the moon and beyond, these infused pre-rolls with diamonds mixed inside can send you to outer space. Tread carefully and have fun.
Cured resin is one of the most common ingredients in infused pre-rolls. Essentially, it’s a concentrate made from dried and cured buds and extracted using chemical solvents. Cannabis resin contains a wide range of beneficial compounds in a concentrated form.
Cannabis resin can be packed inside the pre-roll or outside in a coating or swirl-like fashion. These infused joints can give you the relief you need.
What’s the deal with ice hash pre-rolls? Ice hash is a solventless concentrate made by breaking off the plant’s resin from the plant matter in bubble bags and buckets filled with ice and water.
When agitated, the trichomes fall to the bottom of the filter bags and can be collected and pressed into one of the purest forms of hash. Ice hash can be sprinkled in with your flower and send you on a wild ride.
If you’ve ever touched cannabis bud, that sticky and oily resin is its trichomes. A collection of trichomes is called kief. Kief can make a wonderful addition to an infused pre-roll.
It can be added inside with the flower or used as a final coating over the sticky wax outside. Either way, it’s a great way to add more potency to your joints.
Terp sauce is one of the most flavorful and aromatic concentrates. Made from fresh-frozen buds, this material has more terpenes than dried and cured buds and is used to create a high-terpene product that can add mouth-watering flavours to your infused pre-rolls.
While much of the focus is on cannabinoids like THC and CBD nowadays, terpenes are a class of aromatic compounds in the plant. Pre-rolls can be infused with plant-derived terpenes to add a particular flavour and aroma to your pre-roll. It’s a great way to enhance your experience.
In the legal market, you can get various types of pre-rolls from your favourite brands. While these pre-made options are convenient and affordable ways to test out different strains, you can also make these bad boys from the comfort of your home if you’ve got the right supplies.
Best of all, you can use any combination of your best bud and concentrate to create a fully-loaded joint made to your specifications. Whether you have a low-grade shake or the finest weed available, you can create an infused marijuana joint at home.

It can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to begin feeling the effects of edibles, and it can take 4 hours to feel the full effects. So, if it’s been 30 minutes and you’re not feeling any effects and are thinking of consuming more, wait. Health Canada recommends starting with products that contain 2.5 mg of THC or less, with an equal or higher amount of CBD.
The effects you feel when consuming edibles can depend on how much you’ve eaten, what you’ve eaten and how quickly your metabolism works. This means that consuming 5 mg of THC one day can produce different effects than consuming 5 mg on another day. But no matter what day it is, always start low and go slow.
The amount of THC and CBD on the package is what’s in the product. Edibles sold on the6ixcannabis.ca must meet strict quality requirements set out in the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations to ensure that the amount of THC and CBD stated on the package is the amount in the product. The illegal market, however, does not need to follow any guidelines or restrictions, so there’s no way to know for sure how much THC or CBD is inside.
Even though you don’t eat them, beverages (including tea bags) are considered edibles in the Cannabis Act and on our site.
Although they are similar to edibles in the way they are consumed and absorbed by your body, oils and capsules are considered extracts in the Cannabis Act and on our site. This means they have a 1000 mg limit of THC per package , while edibles have a 10 mg per package limit.
The maximum amount of THC in a single edible is 10 mg. To be more specific, a package of edibles can have up to 10 mg of THC. So, if there’s only one edible in a package, the unit may contain up to 10 mg of THC — read the label carefully before consuming. If there are five edibles in a package, then each unit may contain up to 2 mg of THC. Alternatively, there is currently no maximum amount of CBD that can be included in edibles.
Edibles should be kept out of reach of children. Even though the government imposes strict packaging requirements to protect against accidental consumption and to ensure cannabis products are not appealing to children, parents and caregivers can take additional steps to keep cannabis products from getting into children’s hands, such as keeping them in their original packaging in a place that is not accessible to children. A vaporizer is a device that is typically used to inhale plant substances, like cannabis. When it comes to vaporizing cannabis, either dried flower or some extracts can be used in the devices, known for their portability and ease of use. Vaporizing cannabis is an almost smokeless process (meaning it produces very little smoke on the exhale) and can heat up dried flower or cannabis extracts without burning it.
Cannabis vaporizers come in many different sizes and formats, designed to be used with various substances. To minimize confusion in the category and help make shopping easier, we have purposefully and clearly named our vaporizing products with you in mind.
Here’s a list of all the different vaporizers we carry and a clear explanation of each.
Often used as a replacement for smoking joints or pipes, a dried flower vaporizer can be used by simply loading it with dried flower (make sure to grind it first). The vaporizer heats the dried flower to a temperature that’s high enough to decarboxylate the THCA, changing it to the active THC form, but not high enough to burn the flower.
If you’re interested in consuming extracts (also known as concentrates), this could be a good gadget to explore. An extract-specific vaporizer can be used with various extracts, such as hash, shatter, rosin, wax, kief and live resin, by loading the extract into the chamber, where it will be heated to the point of vaporization. However, it’s important to know that dried flower can’t be consumed using these types of vaporizers.
If you want the ability to flip between different formats on a single device, dual-purpose vaporizers are worth taking a closer look. These types of vaporizers come with extract-specific attachments that allow users to switch between dried flower and extracts if they so choose. When shopping, make sure you read the product description carefully to ensure you’re selecting a vaporizer that has both functions.
Handheld or pen-shaped, a vape device is a type of vaporizer used to consume cannabis distillate. The act of using a vape device is colloquially referred to as “vaping.” Vape devices, also known as vape pens, are battery-powered and come in two different formats: disposable and refillable. Disposable vape batteries come with prefilled cannabis distillate inside and are a one-time-use option. Refillable options require users to recharge and refill using pre-filled cartridges of cannabis distillate. When shopping for refillable vape batteries, pay close attention to what type of pre-filled cartridges it takes, as some batteries are only compatible with specific cartridges (510-thread is most common).
Even though the world of cannabis has continued to experience changes every day, certain fundamental truths still hold. For example, decades ago (even when weed was illegal), people preferred getting their stash from one dealer they could trust and depend on, which is still the case today. Most marijuana enthusiasts, after trying out a new cannabis store and loving it, tend to stick by it for as long as possible.
In this digital world, where you can access hundreds of cannabis dispensaries from the comfort of your home, make sure your weed vendor is the best option you have.

Get tips to help you troubleshoot the most common issues with these popular — but sometimes confusing — devices.
Vapes are one of the most complicated cannabis categories, given their various components, compatibility requirements and particular storage needs. We’ve rounded up some of the common issues consumers experience with vapes — whether they’re 510-thread, closed loop systems or disposable pens — and offer some tips to help solve them.
When shopping for vape batteries and vape cartridges, it’s all about compatibility. When browsing the vape battery category, you’ll notice that most batteries are labelled 510-thread, which means they have a special insert that is compatible with a 510-thread cartridge. But that doesn’t mean every 510-thread cartridge will work with every 510-thread battery. Some vape cartridges, 510 or not, can only be used with batteries specific to the brand — called a closed-loop system — so read the fine print before purchasing.
How you store your vape products can make a big difference for both their performance and their longevity. For best results, keep vape cartridges and disposable vape pens in a dry, cool place (room temperature will do). Turn them off and remove the cartridge from the battery when not in use. When the hot summers and cold winters roll in, be mindful not to leave your vape in a car for long periods of time, as extreme temperatures may affect the hardware’s longevity.
When unboxing a vape pen or cartridge for the first time, look for and remove any vent caps that may have been put in place by the Licensed Producer prior to shipping. Often clear and easy to miss, these caps are designed to prevent contamination and reduce excess odours during shipping. If they’re not removed before use, they’ll prevent the vape from working.
Pulling on a vape multiple times in succession, especially long pulls, can cause it to overheat, which may lead to a malfunction. Leaving ample time between sessions will not only keep your vape pen working properly but also give you time to assess how you’re feeling, reducing your risk of overconsumption.
High altitude and cabin pressure may cause a vape to malfunction, regardless of whether it’s packed in carry-on or checked baggage. Keep this in mind when travelling by air within Canada.
If you notice your vape pen is leaking distillate, do not ingest it; it may cause negative health effects. Have a leaky vape? Contact us here
Disposable vapes are, well, disposable. If a disposable vape pen has stopped working, it could mean that either the battery is dead or the distillate has run out. If it’s rechargeable, try plugging it in to finish using the distillate.
Disposable vape pens can be a good way to test out the product category, but if you’re looking for an option with less waste, choose a recyclable disposable pen or opt for a vape battery that can be reused with multiple vape cartridges.
Consider this: Vapes currently on the market can have concentrations of more than 900 milligrams per gram (90%) THC. In comparison, the maximum amount of THC you’ll find in dried flower is around 300 milligrams per gram (30%), making the strongest vape three times as potent as the strongest dried flower available. With great strength comes great responsibility — when trying a vape product for the first time, take small pulls and longer breaks between each draw.
Even though the world of cannabis has continued to experience changes every day, certain fundamental truths still hold. For example, decades ago (even when weed was illegal), people preferred getting their stash from one dealer they could trust and depend on, which is still the case today. Follow these five easy steps to roll a joint with dried cannabis flower.
There are many ways to consume cannabis and cannabis products, such as inhaling, ingesting and topically applying it. Rolling dried cannabis flower in paper to make a joint and lighting it to be inhaled is the most common. And while it may look complicated, especially for beginners, rolling a joint requires just a few items and a bit of practice.
To roll a joint, you need three things: dried flower, a grinder and rolling paper. The optional filter, or tip, can be created from a small rectangle of cardboard or heavy paper, or you can purchase rolling papers that come with premade tips here.
Use a good-quality grinder — steel is preferable to plastic — to make your cannabis a uniform consistency to produce an even burn and maintain the flavour. Don’t overfill the grinder, and space out the dried flower so it doesn’t clump up. The ground material should be in small pieces but not powdery.
To shop for grinders, click here.
This step is optional, but a filter prevents the dried flower from escaping into your mouth when you inhale and protects your fingers from being burned. Some rolling papers come with filters or tips, but you can make your own with a small rectangle of heavy paper.
Here’s how: Fold one end into a W shape and then curl the rest of the paper around it, or roll the entire rectangle into a little spiral, whichever you prefer.
A filter is also called a “crutch” or “guide” because it provides a rigid surface to hold onto while tightening the paper around the rolled cannabis.
Rolling papers come in lots of different formats (organic, unbleached raw, rice or hemp paper) and sizes (double wide, king or slim). Likewise, joints can be made in many different shapes and sizes, but the standard one is straight, which provides the same amount of dried flower all the way to the end of the cylinder. To fill the paper, first ensure the glue, or shiny, side of the paper is facing up. If you are using a filter, place it at one end of the paper. Fill the paper with the dried cannabis, leaving a little space at the end opposite the filter.
Fold the non-glued long side of the paper up and around the cannabis, and use your thumbs and index fingers to roll it inside the paper until it is well-packed and forms a cylinder. This step makes the whole thing easier to roll and prevents gaps.
Try your best not to press directly on the dried flower as you mould it into the desired shape. You can do this by holding onto the filter and rocking the paper back and forth.
Tuck the non-glued edge around the packed cannabis and roll the paper up tightly to secure the cannabis and filter. Moisten the glue and secure the side. You can also use a small tool like a pen to poke into the open end and tamp down the cannabis so it’s tightly packed. Gently fold and twist the open end closed to prevent any cannabis from escaping.
If all of this sounds too tricky or time-consuming, you can purchase pre-rolled joints through the6ixcannabis.ca

Cannabis products that are high in the non-intoxicating compound cannabidiol (CBD) have been creating a buzz since legalization. But what exactly is CBD?
CBD is one of more than 100 chemical compounds (cannabinoids) found in cannabis.
CBD works with the human body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is an important internal system that helps to regulate a number of key biological functions including appetite, mood, pain sensations, balance, memory, fertility, and movement.
Our body naturally produces endocannabinoids, which are chemicals that interact with receptors called CB1 and CB2 that are located on cells throughout our body, mainly in the brain, immune system, blood vessels, digestive tract, and most major organs.
Cannabinoids mimic the natural endocannabinoids that our bodies produce—in fact the endocannabinoid system was named after the cannabinoid compounds in cannabis, as these were discovered first.
THC binds with CB1 receptors, which exist in greater concentrations in our brains. This may explain why consuming THC can result in feelings of intoxication or being high.
CBD has been shown to affect the activity of receptors and THC, and increase levels of anandamide. Named after the Sanskrit word for joy (ananda), anandamide is an endocannabinoid known as the ‘bliss chemical’, which is responsible for natural feelings of euphoria (such as the ‘runner’s high’ that some people experience when running).
Unlike THC, CBD does not cause intoxication, and may mitigate some of the effects of THC on the mind, when it’s consumed in cannabis that has a higher ratio of CBD to THC (at least 2:1)
Some CBD-dominant products carry a trace of THC as they are full-spectrum, which means that the extract has retained the original profile of the plant in terms of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other elements. Other oils are broad-spectrum, which means they contain most of the plant’s original profile, but have had the THC removed.
When it comes to measuring CBD or information about dosing, there are no guidelines for non-medical cannabis, but since Health Canada has not placed a potency limit on CBD, some products at Our 6ix Cannabis Store contain as much as 55 mg/ml of CBD (which is generally considered high-CBD by most Licensed Producers).
Read each product’s label to find out how much CBD and THC is in it and what the ratio is to each other.
CBD can be consumed as an ingestible or inhalable product.
High-CBD or CBD-dominant products can be found in most cannabis formats, including dried flower, pre-roll, oils, capsules, vapes, edibles, and concentrates. Products that contain equal amounts of CBD and THC will be less impairing than THC-dominant strains, but may still cause effects for those who are looking to avoid getting “high”.
Cannabis oils are a popular way of consuming CBD as they are smokeless and odourless and can be ingested in capsule form, by dropping or spraying them under the tongue (sublingually), or by adding them to food or drink. CBD oil includes a high-CBD cannabis extract in a carrier oil base. MCT oil is often coconut-derived, and is popular amongst Licensed Producers, but palm oil and sunflower oil are also sometimes used as a carrier oil base. CBD-dominant products have a ratio of at least 2:1 CBD to THC and some products contain zero THC.
Apart from the ones we have talked about earlier, multiple factors can influence marijuana retention. We talk about these factors briefly in the following paragraphs.
CBD can also be consumed in an edible format (for example, chocolate and gummies), or as a beverage such as tea or a pre-mixed sparkling drink. CBD-dominant dried flower, and vape pens and cartridges, offer an alternative way to consume CBD as an inhalable product. the 6ix Cannabis Dispensary also carries CBD topicals for external use on the body.
While edibles, like oils, may take between 30 minutes and four hours to feel effects, beverages and inhalable products may be felt within minutes. Edible products have no cap on CBD, but can legally only contain up to 10mg of THC per package, with CBD-only and balanced products offered too.
A good dispensary provides a wide variety of products under the same roof while maintaining a sense of culture, style, and class. A good dispensary is also conveniently located and can facilitate delivery right to your doorstep.

In botany, the term “strain” describes an offspring or descendant of specific plants.
However, this term is a bit inaccurate in the cannabis industry, and a more accurate description is “cultivars” or “variety.”
Cannabis strains are typically defined by appearance, botanical lineage, chemical profile, and effects.
Specific characteristics like cannabinoid and terpene content are used to determine which strain is ideal for chronic pain and which has energizing effects.
We can all agree that a wide variety of weed strains are on the market. While most strains are similar, several types have been produced and maintained for their unique characteristics and growth profiles.
The difference in weed variety results from several different factors. A grower may produce a particular weed strain, and another person develops it with some twists, creating a hybrid strain.
Nature also influences weed variety; even when cultivars grow a particular breed for specific characteristics, there will always be some sort of variation in the gene pool.
When hundreds of cannabis plants are grown together, some develop unique characteristics which can be used to develop new strains.
The major types of weed are derived from two different species of cannabis: Cannabis sativa and Cannabis Indica. These types of weed strains differ based on their genetic structure and effects.
Cannabis users choose and enjoy different weed types based on their effect and other characteristics like flavour and aroma.
Just like people’s experiences of weed differ, the consumption mode is also different. Some prefer smoking, while others enjoy edibles and extracts.
Cannabis indica is native to the Hindu “Kush” region near Afghanistan.
Due to the harsh, cold climate, it originates from, indica plants tend to be short and stocky, with a bushy appearance. Its leaves are darker, fuller, and rounder and grow faster than Sativa.
Indica has high THC levels and low amounts of CBD, which is why it’s considered a strong or potent weed.
Its effect is sedative and relaxing, leaving most users stuck on the couch after consuming.
It also helps reduce nausea and improve appetite. Because of its deeply relaxing effects, indica is commonly used before bed.
Cannabis sativa is found in warmer and dryer climates like Mexico and South Africa. Its plants are much taller with long, thin leaves.
Its growth process is a bit more unique because it grows in certain light conditions and requires darkness for over 11 hours daily.
Compared to indica, its CBD levels are much higher, while THC levels are lower.
It produces a deeply energizing effect that keeps people happy and elevated throughout the day.
It is often consumed by people who want to feel creative and productive during the day.
Hybrid weed strains are typically grown on farms and greenhouses. They are created by cross-germinating seeds of Sativa or indica plants to produce a strain with both effects.
The appearance of the plant and its buds depends on the combination of the parent plants.
Many hybrid weed strains are created to increase THC levels; a great example is the popular wedding cake strain. Hybrids could be indica-dominant, sativa-dominant, or balanced.
Cannabis Ruderalis is another weed strain that was discovered in Southern Russia.
It grows quickly due to the cold and low-sunlight conditions of the areas it grows in. It has small, bushy plants that usually don’t grow taller than 12 inches.
Cannabis Ruderalis has low THC and CBD contents which may not be enough to produce an effect.
This strain is not very popular among recreational users, but cannabis growers breed it with other strains.
